🏥Emory University purchased the former Egleston Hospital property at 1405 Clifton Road and 1712 Uppergate Drive from Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, acquiring two buildings and parking on 7.5 acres in the heart of Emory's campus. The university plans to demolish both buildings over 12 to 18 months due to cost-prohibitive renovation expenses, using the space as open area short-term while retaining the 840-space underground parking deck for university inventory.

🏨Hotel Phoenix opens December 1 at Centennial Yards with 292 guest rooms, 15 suites, a penthouse across 18 stories, plus 15,000 square feet of event space including a ballroom. The $5 billion development's latest opening features Zephyr restaurant blending French and Southern cuisine off the lobby, with a terrace lounge, outdoor pool, and event lawn scheduled to open spring 2026 as part of revitalizing Downtown Atlanta's 50-acre "Gulch" area.

☕ Recuerdos coffee is opening its permanent home Thursday, November 20 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 939 Ponce de León Ave NE inside Bar ANA (see more below!). The grand opening celebration features 50 free oat milk drinks sponsored by Minor Figures and unveils a brand refresh developed with Mehr Creative, marking a new chapter for the community-focused coffee shop in its beautiful new space.

🍰 Bar ANA opens Thursday, November 20 in Poncey-Highland at 939 Ponce de León Ave NE behind El Ponce, led by James Beard-nominated pastry chef Claudia Martinez. The dual-concept venue operates as a coffee shop during the day and transforms into a late-night dessert and cocktail bar featuring sophisticated desserts, craft cocktails, and curated music, brought to life by Chef Claudia and her business partners as a dream ad)dition to Atlanta's culinary scene.

🎄Atlanta Christkindl Market returns to Lawrenceville Lawn opening Black Friday November 28 through Christmas Eve December 24, bringing traditional German festivities with free admission. The holiday market features international and local food including schnitzel, brats, raclette, and pierogies, plus artisan vendors with handmade ornaments, jewelry, and gifts, alongside a 50-foot Ferris Wheel, Santa photos, Glühwein, hot cocoa, and mulled apple cider. Open Wednesday-Thursday 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday-Saturday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., with extended hours Christmas week and designated parking at Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center featuring the Winterlight Walk trail guiding visitors to the market.

🌉The iconic Jackson Street Bridge safety improvements are underway after a July groundbreaking, implementing Complete Streets infrastructure including protected bike lanes, a pedestrian parklet with seating and planters, and ADA accessibility. The project connects the PATH Foundation's Freedom Park Trail to the Baker-Highland Trail, better linking Old Fourth Ward with downtown at Atlanta's most popular skyline photography destination featured in The Walking Dead, funded by $300,000 from District 5 and Renew Atlanta funds.

🖥️ Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella unveiled Atlanta's new Fairwater 2 data center, the world's first "AI superfactory" paired with Wisconsin's Fairwater facility to create unprecedented AI computing capacity. The purpose-built facility features liquid-based cooling that consumes almost zero water, individualized power to each server rack, and integrates hundreds of graphics cards to process data as a massive supercomputer, departing from traditional cloud data center models with a single flat network design.

🎨 Atlanta Beltline issued a call for artists, especially printmakers and graphic designers, to submit qualifications for an original two-dimensional design for Southside Trail Segments 4 and 5. The 55'x4' design will be integrated into an existing 3-foot gravity wall to create an uplifting experience complementing the surrounding landscape, architecture, and neighborhood history, with applications due November 21 at 3:30 p.m. EST and eligibility limited to City of Atlanta residents or businesses headquartered in Atlanta.
